Mae Phim is a quiet little village that has a lot to offer. There is a good selection of all kinds of restaurants, serving both Thai and international dishes. There are a number of pubs in the immediate area as well. A large number of shops line the beach road, and of course more excellent massage places.
The nearest main towns are Ban Phe and Klaeng, about 30 minutes by car to both. In Ban Phe there are several shops for both grocery shopping and other things. The ferries to Koh Samed depart from here. From Mae Phim you can get there by songtaew (local bus). Klaeng is larger and has a large range of shops and services, including a large Tesco Lotus, but is Thai than Ban Phe which has much more tourists.
Golf is available in Ban Chan, a little over an hour away, with several good class courses.
Rayong Province is Thailand's orchard, so there is always plenty to choose from in the markets.
