The castle Saarfels (Schloss Saarfels) is located on the picturesque hills of the quiet town Serrig (1,650 inhabitants) in the southwest of Germany. Its prime location allows for car trips to Luxembourg (40 minutes), the birthplace of Karl Marx - Trier (40 minutes), and the famous winemaking town Saarburg (7 minutes). It was last renovated in 2010.
Schloss Saarfels was built in a neo-Romanesque style at the beginning of the 20th century by famous winemaker Adolf Wagner and served as a major producer of “German champagne” for almost a century. The castle’s history can be felt through its natural stone façade and antique stained-glass windows featuring wine deities and other elegant illustrations. The outdoor terraces and patios overlook the Saar River and adjacent vineyards of neighboring castles.
Despite its antique outside appearance, Schloss Saarfels has modern infrastructure and appliances. The total living area of the castle is 1000m² with 8 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms, and 3 toilets – all fitted with furniture from famous Luxembourg designers. The entire castle has heating and Villeroy-Boch plumbing. At the center of the castle is the main hall which counts with a gorgeous marble fireplace, curved parquet staircase, and a stained-glass window in the ceiling. The Italian kitchen is fully fitted with expensive Miele appliances and connected to the main dining room that counts with a large “feast” table. Other rooms include the library, living room, laundry room, and separate guest room.
