Situated at a Ford Avenue cul-de-sac, close to Leedon Park in Singapore’s prime district 10, a lovely 9,990 sq ft, two-storey Good Class Bungalow (GCB) stands handsomely on a 15,600 sq ft plot of land amidst lush greenery.
Approaching the house, one finds a spacious driveway and front porch that could park up to eight cars. At the entrance of the house, large stone slabs over a pool of water lead one indoors and up a stairway to the main living room. In the next moment, one enters into a luxuriously spacious world with 4-metre-high ceilings and walls large enough for any serious art collector to fill up with his or her favourite art.
Opposite the main living area, a corridor leads to the master bedroom, which comes with its own free-standing bathtub, and makes you feel one with nature. Further down that corridor, one eventually reaches a beautiful pool terrace. You’ll instantaneously feel that you are at a resort without even leaving your home. Situated in between both wings of the house is an amazing 23 metre lap pool which is perfect for exercising at home, or just to take a dip and enjoy the sun.
The owners had asked the architect of the house, Rene Tan of RT+Q Singapore, to allow for the living areas in the house to have versatility and flexibility. It makes the house perfect for a large family as there are several rooms on the ground floor, including one that is large enough to be converted into a home office. Going up and down between floors is a breeze as the second floor is also accessible via a discreetly built-in lift with glass walls.
The house is separated from the neighbouring properties by dense wild foliage and a canal on two sides. When dusk falls, the beauty of the house changes to another ambience altogether. One could almost forget that he is in Singapore when night falls and the moonlight shines on the water, reflecting the light into the midnight blue sky.
