Any recovery in energy prices is expected to revitalize demand for commercial development suggesting a substantial potential gain in the value of well-located properties such as this. In particular, any announcement of the initiation of the long planned for liquefied natural gas (LNG) industry in BC is most likely to have a major positive impact on the economy of the area.
The recent acquisition of Spectra Energy Corp, a processor of natural gas and associated condensates, by Encana Corporation for $37 Billion is a strong indication of the positive future envisaged for the natural gas industry. Spectra has a processing plant west of Dawson Creek, with plans for substantial future expansion.
The agricultural industry in the area continues to thrive, with almost 90% of BC’s grain and 95% of its Canola are produced in the Peace River area as well as 90% of dry field peas and 95% of forage seeds.
